Comparison
What is the difference between herringbone and chevron, and which costs more?
Herringbone is rectangular boards lapped at 90 degrees; chevron is boards cut at an angle so the rows meet in a continuous point. Chevron reads more tailored and wastes more material at the mitres, so it typically sits at the top of the pattern premium — both add roughly 40–55% labour over a straight lay. Same species, same finish, very different room.
